Bethersden Tennis Club had it's annual end of year presentation evening, which this year highlighted one of it's most successful ever years.
The Club has around 80 adult members and over 150 juniors playing regularly at their courts in Bethersden and also at sessions they hold at the six courts at Courtside Ashford, and Homewood School.
In the past 12 months the junior section has won titles in the Ashford and District League at U14 (girls) U16 (boys) and U18 (boys). In the East Kent Section of the National Junior Club League the juniors also won at U14 and U16 girls level.
It wasn't all about the youngsters though with the Club winning their division in the Kent Winter Mixed League and both the Mixed and Men's Kent League through the summer.
More locally, the Men's team won their division of the Ashford and District League and the Mixed team were runners-up. The ladies mid week team also scooped the Maidstone / Ashford mid week friendly league.
Many of the juniors have also represented the senior teams in the various leagues and the future looks good for the club.
In the clubs internal events their were also trophies to be presented.
David Wallis and Sara Nudd won the Opening Tournament back at the start of the year. Mother and son Jane and Laurence Harvey won the Clubs Open Mixed Tournament which attracted over 40 pairs.
There were wins for Steve Parker and Jo Legg in the men's and ladies singles events, whilst Terry Grey and Tim Winch shared the most improved player award.
Top juniors were Jack Ibbetson, Steph Wilton, Eliza Wallis with Rudi Beerensson winning the most improved award.

The annual end of season event was held on 28th November at Bethersden Village Hall The Barn Dance was enjoyed by all as you can see from the photos below.

Here are some photos of our successful junior teams collecting the prizes for winning the Ashford and Distict Junior Leagues.

Super Season for The Club

2009 has proved a successful season for the Clubs teams that have been competeing across the county.
The Year began with the Mixed Team winning their division in The Kent Winter League, securing promoting and then also winning the Divisional Final against David Lloyd Centre (Kings Hill).
In the summer leagues success has also been achieved with the following teams winning their respective divisions -
Ashford League Mens
Kent League Mixed
Kent League Mens
The Ashford League Mixed A team were runners up in Divison 1 by 1 point, Ashford Mixed 2 finished mid table whilst the Ladies will be competing in Divsion 2 next year.
The Singles matches went really well with Bethersden winning them all
James won 4-0 4-0, Seb who won 4-1 4-1, Rudi won 5-4 5-4 and Ashley won 5-4 4-2.
James and Seb won their doubles match 6-1 and Rudi and Ashley lost their doubles match 6-2
The end score was 5-1 to Bethersden
Match Report Sellindge V Bethersden Saturday 9th May
We started with the doubles Rudi and Ashley won 4-5, 4-2, 2-7.John and Jamie lost 4-0, 4-1 A lot of time was used searching for balls on the bowling green!
Singles Rudi won 2-4,2-4, Ashley lost 4-0, 4-1, John lost 4-0,4-2 and Jamie lost 4-2, 4-0.
The end score was 4-2 to Sellindge.
